The Beatles concert poster illustrated below is from an early UK concert at the Subscription rooms, Stroud.  The concert took place on 31st March 1962. 

The following Beatles concert poster is from a performance at the Tower Ballroom, New Brighton on the 6th April 1962.  The Beatles shared the bill with Emile Ford and the Checkmates.  This was one of the groups final concerts before leaving for Hamburg for several weeks.(Note the incorrect spelling of Beetles).

Beatles concert posters are amongst the scarcest of the group’s collectibles.  A poster for Beatles gig would have been printed in a limited quantity, maybe a print run of only 40 or 50 copies at most.  The majority of these would have been glued to a wall or board and so rendered useless after the concert, others would have been discarded leaving only a small number, maybe 3 or 4 of the original print run remaining.  Hence their rarity.  Also Beatles concert posters are amongst the most desirable items of the group’s memorabilia as a good example can be aesthetically very pleasing and capture the essence of a very special period in the history of popular music.  

The most sought after Beatles concert posters are the from the Beatles pre-fame period either when they were playing in Hamburg, or at the Casbah or The Cavern in Liverpool.  Collectors seem to place particular stow on Beatles concert posters from this particular era, possibly because Beatles concert ephemera was at it’s scarcest then and also the group’s image seems to have a strong attraction for fans in this period.  From the 1963-1966 years Beatles concert posters showing an image of the group are most popular with collectors.
